BY VUYISWA MABILA

MATSAPHA – The President of the Eswatini Schools Sports Association (ESA), Zakhele Myeni, has pledged his organisation’s full support in helping the Scara Thindwa Soccer Foundation realise its dream of nurturing young football talent across the country.

Speaking during the 2025 Scara Thindwa Soccer Foundation Prize Presentation Ceremony, held at KFC Food Alliance, Matsapha Link, Myeni vowed that ESA would continue to collaborate closely with key partners to develop future football stars and legends.

“As ESA, we are prepared to make sure that the dream of the Foundation comes true. We will avail and provide resources, and we are ready to work with the Ministry to groom future stars and legends,” said Myeni.

He further emphasised the importance of equipping referees and coaches with the right skills and tools to effectively train and guide young players.

“We must ensure that referees and coaches are well-equipped to provide the necessary skills that are needed to produce well-rounded athletes,” he added.

The event was held in collaboration with KFC, the Ministry of Education and Training, the Eswatini Schools Sports Association, the Eswatini Sport and Recreation Council, the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs, and the Eswatini Football Association.

Myeni commended the Foundation for its continued investment in grassroots football, noting that such initiatives play a crucial role in identifying and nurturing young talent from schools. He added that ESA’s partnership with the Foundation reflects a shared vision of empowering the youth through sports and education.

The 2025 Prize Presentation Ceremony saw the Foundation investing over E155,000 in cash prizes and training equipment for schools under the Under-13, Under-15, and Under-17 divisions, as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen school-level football.

The ceremony was also attended by officials from the Ministry of Education, sports administrators, and community leaders, all of whom praised the Foundation’s dedication to youth empowerment and development.
