Nazaha expands integrity initiatives to strengthen the anti-corruption culture

Abrar Al-Hamad, Assistant Secretary-General for Prevention and Engineer at the Public Authority for Combating Corruption (Nazaha), affirmed that the authority is committed to fostering a culture of integrity, transparency, and accountability within Kuwait’s government institutions—going beyond enforcement to protect administrative systems from practices that may lead to corruption, in accordance with international standards.

Speaking to Al-Rai, Al-Hamad highlighted Nazaha’s Performance Project, which promotes the activation of professional conduct codes within government bodies through awareness, training, and administrative pathways across four levels—bronze, silver, gold, and diamond. The initiative now includes 26 participating agencies and more than 66,000 beneficiaries, reflecting growing institutional engagement.

She also pointed to the success of the “Bankee” program, the first of its kind in Kuwait, launched in partnership with public and private sectors to instill financial literacy and moral integrity among students. The program, which simulates classroom economies to teach honesty and responsibility, has expanded to 60 schools, reaching 32,000 students and 7,200 teachers.

Al-Hamad added that Nazaha continues to develop internationally aligned methodologies for measuring corruption, including statistical frameworks, corruption risk assessments, and compliance evaluations for laws such as the Right to Access Information Law. The authority has issued 8 annual and 17 semi-annual reports, as well as five editions of the Citizen’s Report, in addition to specialized guides on internal reporting, annual reporting mechanisms, and corruption risk management—reinforcing Nazaha’s role as a national leader in integrity-building and transparency reform.
