An 18-year-old young man killed his 54-year-old mother suffocating her with a towel. The crime took place in the victim’s home in the town of Trikala, central Greece. at noon on Tuesday.

The perpetrator then called the police and said that he had killed his mother.

Police officers rushed to the crime scene, found the young man and the dead victim in the living room and arrested him.

A coroner who arrived also at the scene saw signs of asphyxiation, an autopsy and a forensic examination will shed more light in the exact causes of the woman’s death.

According to local media, the parents were divorced, the boy and his older sister had decided to live together with the father. However, the boy had moved into his mother’s home four days ago.

At noon on Tuesday, while the mother was watching television in the living room, the boy went to the bathroom, took a towel and put it around the victim’s neck.

The perpetrator has reportedly told police that he wanted to kill her also in the past because she had relationships to other men who he did not approve. In addition he claimed that his mother did not treat him right.

Neighbors and relatives told local media that relation between mother and son were tense and some claimed that he was victim of bullying at school because of his divorced parents.
