A storm is brewing in Nollywood and across social media as actress Regina Daniels and her billionaire husband, Prince Ned Nwoko, are reportedly on the brink of divorce following explosive allegations of violence, abuse, and drug misuse. The unfolding controversy has captured global attention, raising serious concerns about the actress’s safety and reigniting debate on gender-based violence in celebrity marriages.
The controversy erupted after a viral video showed a tearful Daniels sitting outside at night, visibly distressed and surrounded by friends who tried to comfort her. In the emotional footage, the actress could be heard lamenting her alleged ordeal.
“In Ned Nwoko’s house, I am nothing, but in my house, I am a queen. Not again, I cannot stand the violence. It’s too much,” Regina Daniels said tearfully, as her young son attempted to console her.
The heartbreaking clip quickly spread across social media, prompting an outpouring of concern f, rom fans, colleagues, and women’s rights advocates.
The situation escalated when Regina’s brother, musician Sammy West, took to Instagram to accuse Nwoko of physically assaulting his sister and attempting to silence the family. “Makachi, e pain me say una wan finally laugh my sister. Let me repeat — anywhere wey man dey beat woman, whether na my sister or not, I go fight with my blood,” he wrote in Pidgin English.
In a more damning post, West alleged that Nwoko “smashed Regina’s head against the wall” before fleeing their home and sending security operatives to intimidate the family. “Senator Ned Nwoko, you get luck say after you beat my sister again, smash her head for wall, you run commot send thugs. I swear I for burst your jaw,” he said.
As public outrage grew, Prince Nwoko who is 64 years old issued a statement denying all allegations and instead accusing Regina of drug and alcohol abuse.
“Regina’s unprovoked carnage and rampage in my house and in my absence,” Nwoko wrote. “Regina was not always like this. Her current battle with drugs and alcohol abuse is the root of our problem. She must continue her rehabilitation program, or I fear for her life and safety.”
Born Chinedu Munir Nwoko, the Senator further alleged that Regina who is 25 years old had attacked household staff, destroyed property, and threatened their resident nurse for exposing her alleged drug use. “I have other wives, and none has ever accused me of violence. Regina is the violent one here,” Nwoko stated, adding that he had advised her to seek rehabilitation either in Asokoro or abroad.
The public exchange of accusations has sharply divided opinion on social media. While some users have expressed sympathy and support for Regina, others have urged caution, noting that the claims from both sides remain unverified.
Old videos of the couple have also resurfaced, including one where Nwoko joked, “She will tell me I’m not her father, and I’ll say, no, I’m your husband.” Regina was seen kneeling and replying, “You’re my everything.” Once perceived as playful banter, the clip is now being reinterpreted by fans as evidence of underlying tension.
Rumours of unrest in the marriage had been circulating for weeks. Recently, Regina shared a prank video on Instagram showing Nwoko entering a restroom as she filmed, accompanied by a song with contentious lyrics — a clip that drew mixed reactions from followers.
As of press time, Regina Daniels has not issued any formal statement beyond the viral video, while Prince Nwoko continues to deny all allegations of violence.
Malawi24 could not independently verify the claims made by either party.
Public attention remains firmly fixed on the unfolding drama, with growing calls for intervention from relevant authorities and appeals for both parties to prioritise truth, safety, and accountability.
