‘All efforts mobilized to ensure success of UAE World Falconry Championship in Kuwait’

Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi affirmed on Saturday that all resources are being mobilized to ensure the success of the first edition of the UAE World Falconry Championship, which Kuwait will host next December under the supervision of the UAE and International Falconry Federations.

Al-Mutairi, who also heads the tournament’s Supreme Organizing Committee, made the remarks following his inspection of the championship’s headquarters at the Kuwait Camel Racing Club.

He noted that the heritage event is receiving significant attention from all relevant state agencies, as it embodies the strong bonds of brotherhood and cooperation between Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates, under the patronage of their respective political leaderships, reports Al-Rai daily.

He explained that the organizing committee is working diligently to ensure the championship’s success and to present it in a manner that reflects the depth of fraternal relations between the two countries.

Al-Mutairi praised the efforts of the Emirates Falconers Association in organizing this authentic heritage event, dedicated to Kuwaiti falconers, which contributes to preserving and promoting falconry, a tradition deeply rooted in the lives of the region’s forefathers.

The total value of the championship prizes is estimated at around half a million Emirati dirhams (approximately 40,000 Kuwaiti dinars), and the competition will feature seven rounds for the chick category (falcons less than one year old). Additional rounds will be held for free falcons and farm-bred peregrine falcons, culminating in a final round for the main championship cup.

Five falcons from each category—Pure Gyr, Shaheen Gyr, Qarmousha, and Taba’a Gyr—will qualify for the final round, ensuring a strong field of competition that highlights the region’s rich cultural heritage and commitment to traditional sports.
