Driver who allegedly fled scene after fatal hit-run on Oregon highway arrested

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The driver who struck and killed a pedestrian before leaving the scene over the weekend has been located and arrested, according to Oregon State Police.

Brandon Jensen, 41, was charged with failure to perform duties of a driver and tampering with physical evidence.

The collision took place just after 1 a.m. near milepost 76 in Douglas County.

Officials say Dustin Rios, 30, was “in the lane of travel for an unknown reason and was struck by an eastbound vehicle on Highway 42 near Grant Smith Road.”

Rios was pronounced dead at the scene.

“OSP would like to thank the Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team (DINT) and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance with this incident,” officials said.
