Myanmar, Vietnam vow to further strengthen friendship and cooperation

Acting President and State Security and Peace Commission Chairman Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and Vietnam-Myanmar Friendship Association Chairman Mr Chu Cong Phung exchange commemorative gifts during the latter’s courtesy call on the former yesterday.

Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and State Security and Peace Commission Chairman Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received a delegation led by Mr Chu Cong Phung, Chairman of the Vietnam-Myanmar Friendship Association, yesterday morning.
At the meeting, they cordially discussed political progress in Myanmar, preparations to hold a free and fair election, and the invitation extended to election observation teams from international communities.
They talked about the enhancement of friendly relations and promotion of cooperation between Myanmar and Vietnam, and aid provided by Vietnam for Myanmar in the aftermath of the devastating Mandalay earthquake.
Their discussions emphasized promotion of cooperation in agriculture and livestock, production and tourism industries, and plans to raise trade and investment between the two countries.
After the meeting, the Acting President and SSPC Chairman of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the Chairman of Vietnam-Myanmar Friendship Association exchanged commemorative gifts and had documentary photos taken.
Also, present at the meeting together with the Senior General were Commission Secretary and Joint Executive Chief General Ye Win Oo, Union Minister for Transport and Communications U Mya Tun Oo, and Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs U Ko Ko Kyaw. The Vietnam-Myanmar Friendship Association Chairman was accompanied by his delegation members. — MNA/TTA
