A 22-year-old woman was killed after two vehicles collided near Deonarine Junction in Couva on Sunday.

Police identified the deceased as Adana Alexander of Calcutta Road, Mc Bean, Couva. She was a backseat passenger in a silver Toyota Fielder.

Around 4:40 am, the Toyota Fielder, driven by a 21-year-old woman from Freeport, was heading north along Mc Bean Road. On reaching Deonarine Junction, the driver reportedly attempted to turn right into Calcutta Road No. 3 and collided with a Nissan Cefiro travelling south.

The 44-year-old male driver of the Nissan, from Santa Flora, and the female driver of the Fielder both sustained injuries.

Alexander died at the scene.
