Samoa’s men’s cricket team pulled off a tournament upset to book their place for the super six stage of the Asia-Pacific T-20 World Cup qualifying series hosted in Oman.
Samoa was ranked 69th while Pacific neighbours Papua New Guinea were ranked 21.

Samoa beat PNG by 6 wickets with 9 balls remaining.

Samoa went down to hosts Oman in their first match, however, this win has secured a spot for the Top 6 of the qualifiers.
The Samoa side is led by former Black Caps Ross Taylor, returning from retirement to help Samoa book a spot for the T20 Cricket World Cup 2026 to be hosted by India and Sri Lanka in February next year.
