Validation Workshop on Africa’s Digital Transformation Strategy Concludes in Maseru

The Validation Workshop on the Assessment of the Digital Transformation Strategy (DTS) 2020–2030 concluded successfully in Maseru, Lesotho, marking a key milestone in advancing Africa’s digital transformation agenda.

The three-day workshop brought together delegates from across Africa and the African Union to evaluate progress on the DTS implementation. In his closing remarks, Mr Kanono Ramashamole commended participants for their active engagement, collaboration, and visionary leadership throughout the meeting.

The workshop reaffirmed the continent’s commitment to building an inclusive, integrated, and innovative digital Africa. Discussions focused on digital skills development, infrastructure expansion, innovation, e-governance, and the creation of the African Digital Single Market. These areas are critical to achieving Agenda 2063: The Africa We Want.

Delegates highlighted the DTS Monitoring Dashboard as a vital tool for tracking progress, identifying gaps, and fostering accountability among Member States. Mr Ramashamole also stressed the importance of integrating traditional sectors, such as postal services, into digital ecosystems to ensure inclusive access. “Digital transformation is not just about technology; it is about people, inclusion, and shared prosperity,” he said.

Lesotho reaffirmed its commitment to the continental digital agenda through its National Digital Transformation Strategy. The country continues to invest in digital public infrastructure to support connectivity, e-services, and innovation nationwide.

The workshop concluded with a shared sense of purpose, emphasizing that Africa’s digital transformation must remain people-centred, inclusive, and sustainable, ensuring that no citizen is left behind in the continent’s journey toward a digitally integrated future.
