POLK CITY, Iowa —

One person is dead following a crash between a bike and a dump truck in Polk County.

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, a cyclist was on the High Trestle Trail and attempting to cross Northwest 44th Street east of Polk City. The cyclist was hit by a dump truck while crossing on a recumbent-style bike.

Investigators told KCCI the cyclist has been identified as a 44-year-old woman. The road will be closed part of the day Thursday while investigators are at the scene.
