INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Colts cornerback Kenny Moore II is recovering from an Achilles injury he suffered in the game against the Tennessee Titans in Week 3.
Moore did not practice on Wednesday, but Colts head coach Shane Steichen said they were going to work him out on the field.
Moore provided an update on his injury and when he will be back on the field.
“Hopefully soon,” Moore said. “Hopefully sooner than later. Mentally I’m doing well. Taking it day by day, just trying to attack it properly to get back to the practice field and obviously to the game. I’m excited to still be around, still helping guys prepare for the game, still in meeting rooms. Just being alert and attentive as I should be. I’m preparing like I’m playing. obviously having missed two games already, it’s not the best, but I got a lot of support around me within this building to make sure that I’m good mentally. Physically I’m getting there. I’m feeling really good right now.”
Moore added that the feeling he had on the field in Tennessee was not ideal, but that he dodged a full rupture.
“It’s just a confusing place to have an injury because it starts to become a calf thing,” Moore said. “You don’t want it to become a calf thing and then everything starts working up your body. It’s a lot that we put our bodies through to even get back to where we want to be, mentally and physically to be good enough to say, ‘Hey, I can go again.’”
Moore shared where he is at mentally in the recovery as well.
“I’m built for it at this point, being in year nine,” Moore said. “I think if I had this type of scare in year four or five, I probably wouldn’t be in the best place right now, but God is just on my side.”
The Colts return to the field on Sunday at home against the Arizona Cardinals. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
