Glasgow freshman Maria Ramos took a leading role in the Lady Scotties’ long-awaited District 15 Girls’ Soccer Tournament championship on Sunday against host Warren East.
Ramos, the team’s leading scorer this season, tallied a pair of second-half goals as Glasgow rallied from a goal down at halftime to claim a 3-1 victory. It was the first district title for the Lady Scotties since 2015.
“We just kept our head up,” Ramos said. “We believed in ourselves and as long as we like play our game, we could get it. It was just one goal. We had it in the bag. I feel like we could’ve got more shots on, but it’s still OK.”
Glasgow moves on to play in the Region 4 Tournament, which starts Sunday at South Warren.
