Israel tells Gazans ‘last opportunity’ to flee main city
Israeli defence minister Israel Katz issued a “last opportunity” warning for Gazans to flee the besieged territory’s main city and move south, warning that his forces had tightened their encirclement around Gaza City.
“The IDF has completed in recent hours the capture of the Netzarim axis up to the Gaza coast, effectively dividing Gaza between north and south,” Katz wrote on X.
“This is the last opportunity for Gaza residents who wish to do so to move south and leave Hamas terrorists isolated in Gaza City itself, facing the IDF’s ongoing operations at full force.”
The minister warned those who remained in Gaza would be “considered terrorists and terror supporters”.
Hamas said Katz’s comments were likely “a prelude to the escalation of war crimes being committed by his army”.

GSF activist tells The Independent: ‘After joining the deadly 2010 Gaza flotilla, I’m now sailing again. I’m worried Israel will kill us’
A woman onboard the Gaza aid flotilla has said activists have to “accept they might die” as their ship nears the coast of the war-torn territory.
After entering the “high-risk zone” on Tuesday night, activists said the flotilla was “aggressively circled” by an Israeli warship which “steered dangerously close” to the vessels. The IDF has not commented on the incident.

Over 150 children died from malnutrition in Gaza since start of Israel invasion: Report
More than 150 children have died in Gaza due to acute malnutrition since the start of Israel’s invasion into the strip, a majority in 2025, according to the latest figures from Palestinian health authorities.
Gaza’s malnutrition crisis has reached catastrophic levels, according to Unicef’s communication manager Tess Ingram, who said the strip’s entire child population under five, which includes over 320,000 children, are at risk of acute malnutrition.
In July alone, she said, 13,000 children were acutely malnourished, making it “the highest monthly figure ever recorded”.
“This war must end now. Aid must be allowed into the Gaza Strip, including food and nutrition supplies. Humanitarians must be allowed to do their jobs,” Ms Ingram said. “The children of Gaza are being punished by these decisions and it’s killing them”.

“Deportation procedures to Europe will begin” upon arriving in Israel, the ministry wrote on X this morning, adding: “The passengers are safe and in good health.”
Israeli forces boarded and seized control of several ships involved in the flotilla late on Wednesday, with members on board detained and taken to Israel.

Red Cross forced to relocate from Gaza City
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said it has been forced to stop functioning in Gaza City and relocate to the south of the strip amid an intensification of Israeli military operations in the city.
The move, the Red Cross said, was necessary to “ensure staff safety and operational continuity”, warning that tens of thousands of people are enduring “harrowing humanitarian conditions”.
“Civilians are being killed, forcibly displaced and made to endure dire conditions,” the ICRC said.
“Lives can still be saved today. A cessation of hostilities is imperative and urgent,” it said.

Israel kills Palestinian photojournalist known for newborn baby portraits
Israeli airstrikes in Gaza killed Palestinian journalist Yahia Barzaq, who was known for his portraits of newborn babies before Israel’s Gaza invasion, the Turkey government said in a statement.
“The freelance journalist Yahia Barzaq, who had been covering Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza for TRT, was martyred amid an airstrike by the perpetrators of genocide,” the government’s department of communications said, adding that Israel was committing war crimes “every single day”.
“The Israeli administration should know that with their systematic attacks on journalists, they cannot silence the truth; they will never be able to hide their crimes against humanity and acts of genocide,” it said.
