LOS ANGELES (KABC) — An immersive hologram experience with Marvel legend Stan Lee made its debut at L.A. Comic Con this weekend.
Stan Lee — the co-creator of iconic superheroes like Spider-Man, The X-Men and more — passed away in 2018. But now, fans have the opportunity to speak with the pioneer — all through AI technology.
“If we can create an experience using an avatar of Stan — it isn’t Stan, it’s an avatar — as sort of a jumping off point, as a portal for new fans,” said Chris DeMoulin, the CEO and general manager of Kamikaze Entertainment. “If this is the reason they pick up their first Spider-Man book, then we’ve done something good that day.”

“It’s great to be back at conventions like this, surrounded by fellow Marvel fans and enthusiasts,” the AI Stan Lee avatar said in one clip of the hologram experience.
L.A. Comic Con continues through the weekend at the L.A. Convention Center.
