Clemson, S.C. — Syracuse is regaining three starters for Saturday’s ACC opener at Clemson. However, there has been an addition to the injury list.
Wide receiver Tyshawn Russell did not warm up with Syracuse after being named as a potential inactive by Fran Brown.
The redshirt-sophomore transferred from South Carolina after the 2024 season. He has nine catches for 83 yards with the Orange, which are both career highs.
Russell has also contributed 36 kick return yards, another career high.
While Russell won’t play Saturday, he isn’t expected to miss much time. In his place is redshirt-freshman Emanuel Ross, who will make his season debut after suffering an injury in training camp.
Syracuse has Ross, Johntay Cook II, Justus Ross-Simmons, Jaylan Hornsby and true freshmen Darien Williams and Daunte Bacheyie as its dressed wide receivers for Saturday.
Brown said Thursday that Williams would play after catching his first career touchdown against Colgate.
