Ferries, ships docked at Greece’s ports due to 24h strike

Ferries and ships will be docked at Greek ports on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 due to the 24-hour strike of the seamen union umbrella, the Panhellenic Maritime Federation PNO.

The mobilization is taking place within the framework of the broader 24-hour nationwide strike action organized by the public and private sector unions ADEDY and GSEE.

The strike mobilization of the PNO will start at 00:01 on October 1st and will end at  24:00 of the same day, embracing all categories of ships throughout the territory.

According to the PNO announcement, the decision to strike was taken in response to the new bill of the Labor Ministry which provides for an increase in daily working time to 13 hours.

The Federation points out that this regulation essentially abolishes the historical triptych “8 hours of work, 8 hours of recreation, 8 hours of rest”, which may cause serious problems in the personal life, health and safety of workers at sea.

If you plan to travel by sea on October 1, 2025, contact local port authorities, travel agents or shipping companies.
