Filmmaker Neeraj Ghaywan’s film “Homebound” has been selected as India’s official entry for the 2026 Oscars. On Friday, it was officially selected for the Best International Feature category at the 2026 Academy Awards. The film stars Ishaan Khattar, Vishal Jethwa, and Janhvi Kapoor.
The Film Federation of India announced the selection in Kolkata. Selection committee chairman N Chandra said that a total of 24 films in different languages were in the running to represent the country at the Oscars. “Homebound” will now compete with official entries from over 100 countries for the Best International Feature Film at next year’s Oscars, first for a nomination and then for the award.
The film’s producer, Karan Johar’s production company, Dharma Productions, tweeted its happiness on the occasion. The tweet read, “We are proud to announce that ‘Homebound’ is India’s official entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 98th Academy Awards.”
India’s only Oscar win came in the open category. Director SS Rajamouli’s RRR won in 2023.
