The fifth and final season of Netflix’s popular series Outer Banks will be filmed this fall in Dubrovnik.
According to reports from dubrovnik.net, cast and crew will arrive in Croatia at the end of October and stay until mid-November.
The series is set on the Outer Banks of North Carolina and follows a group of working-class teenagers, known as the Pogues, in their search for the legendary treasure of the pirate Blackbeard.
Their adventures pit them against the wealthier “Kooks” in a tale of friendship, rivalry, and high-stakes adventure.
Since its debut, Outer Banks has been a constant fixture near the top of Netflix’s global charts. Its third season, released in March 2023, amassed an impressive 154 million views in its first week alone.
Creators Shannon Burke, Josh Pate, and Jonas Pate confirmed on social media that season five will also mark the end of the series, promising fans the “most exciting and best season yet.”
“In the summer of 2017, we came across a photograph of teenagers on a beach at dusk during a power outage. That image inspired the story of four best friends simply trying to enjoy life. From there, we imagined a mystery that would take them on a five-year journey filled with adventure, treasure hunts, and friendship,” the writers explained.
“Back then, it seemed impossible that we would truly tell the entire story across five seasons, but here we are. With a little sadness, but also excitement, we now turn to the fifth and final season, where we hope to give our beloved Pogues the ending we planned many years ago.”
With millions of young fans worldwide, Dubrovnik may well see a wave of Outer Banks enthusiasts once the new season airs.
