The Aitape-Lumi District Independence Committee has officially closed celebrations in Aitape today.
The committee is very thankful to all citizens of Aitape Urban LLG, Wards 1, 2, and 3, and neighboring ward areas of other LLGs for their joyful participation in all programmed activities making the 50th Golden Jubilee Celebrations a historic one for Aitape-Lumi District and West Sepik Province as Papua New Guineans.
Committee Chairman Mr Peter Ake acknowledged police personnel and event securities for their wonderful support and contributions in providing security during the celebrations.
Mr Ake also advised that it is time to work on our visions for the next 50 years, encouraging the young to take ownership in driving the district forward for the next 50 years.
The committee further challenged all citizens, especially the young and upcoming leaders, to work together and bring Aitape-Lumi forward.
Present at the official closing at the District HQ were Aitape-Lumi District Administrator Mr Job Tomur, his deputy Mr Mathias Kemboi, Aitape Urban LLG Manager Mr Canisius Saweni and members of the independence committee.
