On Tuesday, Fayetteville police identified the woman as 36-year-old woman as Tamika Tyler. Police said the man was transferred to a UNC medical facility, where he remains in critical condition.
According to the department’s preliminary investigation, the two victims were traveling in a white Chevrolet Equinox on Caledonia Circle with another man, 31-year-old Quantavious Paige. Investigators said the man who was shot was driving and Tyler was sitting in the front passenger seat with Paige in the rear seat.

“As they were traveling, the rear passenger shot the victims multiple times from the rear seat of the vehicle, exited the vehicle, and fled from the scene on foot,” Fayetteville police said in a release.
Homicide detectives identified Paige as the suspect in the shooting and obtained warrants for his arrest on Sept. 12. He was taken into custody Tuesday after Fayetteville State University Police conducted a traffic stop near Murchison Road on a vehicle in which Paige was a passenger.
According to the Fayetteville Police Department, Paige is currently being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center on no bond.
