Lawrence O’Donnell Shares The 1 ‘Honest Thing’ Trump Has Said About Epstein’s Victims

MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell is highlighting “the one honest thing” that he thinks President Donald Trump has ever said about the victims of Jeffrey Epstein, who died while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges and once called Trump his “closest friend.”

O’Donnell played footage of the honest moment Tuesday on “The Last Word.”

In the clip, reporters asked Trump earlier in the evening whether he would meet with Epstein victims who are demanding transparency, and the president replied: “Nobody suggested that. Certainly I don’t like that whole situation with respect to anybody being abused or hurt, but I haven’t even thought about that.”

“Of course he hasn’t even thought about that,” O’Donnell said. “That may be the one honest thing Donald Trump has said about Jeffrey Epstein and his survivors. Of course he hasn’t thought about them.”

O’Donnell noted that Trump has dehumanized people for years, including migrants and Democratic voters. He said Epstein, who allegedly once received a birthday letter from Trump, and his convicted co-conspirator Ghislaine Maxwell, have clearly done so, too.

“And so tonight, Donald Trump said, ‘I haven’t even thought about that,’ and that’s very believable coming from Donald Trump,” O’Donnell said about the president’s indifference. “That’s what Donald Trump said tonight about meeting with Epstein survivors.”

“Those were his words, ‘Nobody suggested that,’” he added. “No, nobody working for Donald Trump — nobody except the Epstein survivors themselves, who Donald Trump dehumanizes to the point of ignoring what they said directly to him.”

O’Donnell then played footage from a recent press conference in Washington, D.C., in which Epstein’s victims pleaded for Trump to use his “power” for good — by releasing any remaining files on Epstein that the Justice Department continues to withhold.

The president reportedly responded to that event by calling the the push for the files “a Democrat hoax.”

“While the Epstein survivors outside the Capitol … were speaking, Donald Trump called them a ‘hoax,’” O’Donnell said Tuesday. “He dehumanized them while they were speaking. He said in clear, Trumpian language: They are not human beings to me.”

The host went on to play several heartbreaking clips of Epstein victims reacting to Trump’s dismissal. Jena-Lisa Jones says she was 14 years old when Epstein started abusing her in 2003. She told O’Donnell last week that she voted for Trump and “put my hope in him.”

“There’s no one [among the group] that is accusing him of any wrongdoing,” she added at the time. “So for the fact that he is saying those things and saying it’s a hoax, who are you hiding for then? Because if it’s not you, then who is it? And that scares me — who is it?”
