A police officer has been assigned to the Colonial War Memorial Hospital to guard a man alleged to have been involved in the death of his partner in Nakasi.

The victim, a woman in her 30s, was discovered motionless inside her bedroom by Nakasi Police on Thursday. Authorities confirmed that the suspect was admitted to hospital with injuries reportedly sustained during a domestic dispute.

The circumstances surrounding how the suspect was injured remain under investigation. A post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the official cause of death.

Police say enquiries are ongoing.
