IPL 2025: RCB reach final, defeats PBKS in Qualifier 1

In a dominant performance in Qualifier 1 of IPL 2025, Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Punjab Kings by 8 wickets. Batting first, Punjab team was all out for 101 runs.

Marcus Stoinis scored the highest runs for Punjab with 27 runs. Apart from this, Omarzai and Prabhsimran contributed 18 runs each. Josh Hazlewood and Suyash Sharma took three wickets each for RCB.

RCB won the toss and decided to bowl first, were buoyed by the return of Josh Hazelwood who picked up 3 wickets including that of Punjab skipper Shreyas Iyer. For RCB opener Phil Salt top scored with an unbeaten 56 in 27 balls. This is the fourth time that the Bengaluru team has made it to the final of the IPL.

Punjab made its fourth lowest score

With this, Punjab team has become the team to bat for the least number of overs in the IPL playoffs. It surpassed this unwanted record made by Delhi Daredevils (now Capitals) in 2008. This is also the joint third lowest total in the IPL playoffs. The record of scoring the lowest score in the IPL playoffs is in the name of Deccan Chargers, who scored 82 runs against RCB in 2010. This is also the fourth lowest score of Punjab Kings in IPL.

RCB team played its last title match in 2016, but finished runner-up. They will now play the final on June 3 in Ahmedabad. Punjab Kings will face the winner of the eliminator in Qualifier-2 on June 1. The eliminator will be played between Mumbai and Gujarat on Friday.
