UN Envoy Backs Libyan Presidential Council’s Mediation Efforts in Tripoli Standoff

President Mohammed Al Menfi of Libya’s Presidential Council received the UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General, Hanna Tetteh, and her deputy, Stephanie Koury. The meeting focused on recent security developments in the capital and the ongoing mediation efforts led by the Presidential Council.

SRSG Tetteh expressed appreciation for the work of the Presidential Council and associated security committees to mediate a peaceful resolution to the current standoff in Tripoli. She voiced continued UN support for these efforts and reaffirmed the Mission’s readiness to assist in finalizing an agreement and supporting its implementation.
