TriMet to launch new bus line along 148th Ave this weekend

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A new TriMet bus line is ready to hit the road in June.

Line 86 will run north and south along 148th Avenue every day of the week starting Sunday, June 1. It will connect with the MAX light rail as well as other bus lines, including Line 87-Airport Way/181st.

To celebrate, TriMet is hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday.

The ceremony will be joined by Relay Resources, a nonprofit that helps employ workers with disabilities. According to TriMet, many of the company’s 900 employees rely on the bus to get to work, and Line 86 will make their commute more convenient.

The kickoff is part of several other updates from TriMet. These changes include more frequent stops for Line 87 as well as minor schedule adjustments for other lines, such as the FX-2 Division line.
