Open University Of Kenya Releases Revised 2025/2026 Undergraduate Fees

The Open University of Kenya (OUK) has released the fee structure for its bachelor’s programmes for the 2025/2026 academic year.

OUK announced on Friday, August 29, a reduction in tuition fees to make education more accessible and affordable for Kenyans.

However, the fee structure for all postgraduate programmes will remain unchanged.

“We are delighted to announce that the Open University of Kenya has revised its bachelor’s programme fees to make education more accessible and affordable,” read the statement in part.

This comes after the Ministry of Education announced on July 31 a significant reduction in university fees for all academic programs in public institutions. The move followed months of consultations with the public, students, and higher education stakeholders.

Most other undergraduate programmes, including Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Data Science, Bachelor of Economics and Statistics, and Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, are set at Ksh 39,500 per semester.

The Bachelor of Technology Education, previously costing Ksh 115,000 per year, has been reduced to Ksh 86,000.

The Postgraduate Diploma in Learning Design and Technology and the Postgraduate Diploma in Leadership and Accountability will each cost KSh 110,000 per academic year.

The university has emphasized that students from outside East Africa will pay an additional 10 percent.

Meanwhile, those seeking government financial support have been advised to apply through the official scholarship and loan portal at www.hef.co.ke.
