Somalia officially launches its electronic visa service

The Immigration and Citizenship Agency (ICA) of Somalia today announced the official launch of its electronic visa service (e-Visa/eTAS), which will be operational from September 1, 2025.

Accessible online via the www.evisa.gov.so portal, this system aims to modernize entry procedures and facilitate the process for foreign travelers.

Thanks to this platform, presented by VisasNews a few months ago, foreign nationals will be able to apply for a visa online, without having to visit an embassy or consulate.

According to the ICA, the launch of the e-Visa/eTAS system is “a historic initiative that will bring Somalia in line with electronic systems used around the world.”

The Director of the Department of Foreigners and Immigration, Isaaq Hassan Taakow, said that this modern online visa application system had been in the works for a long time. “It will make it easier for foreigners to apply for visas from any country and will be available very soon. Specialized agents have been trained to ensure efficient and rapid visa issuance,” he explained.
