Fox News’ Jesse Watters on Wednesday whined about Donald Trump claiming victory for Cracker Barrel’s decision to walk back its new (but now-nixed) MAGA-outraging logo design.
The Southern-style restaurant chain had faced days of outrage from the right, which Fox amplified, after it unveiled a more minimalistic logo that ditched the image of a man and a barrel.
Trump chimed in, posting on his Truth Social platform: “Cracker Barrel should go back to the old logo, admit a mistake based on customer response (the ultimate Poll), and manage the company better than ever before.”
After the chain indeed reversed course over the logo, members of the Trump White House attempted to portray it as a win for the president.
But Watters, usually a staunch supporter of Trump, wasn’t having it.
“I’m not giving Trump credit for this,” he said on “The Five.”
“I’m giving Fox credit,” he continued, adding perhaps semi in jest: “We covered this story for a week and he watched it for a week and then he basically hit the winning shot. OK? Mr. President, nice job. But come on, it was all us.”
“But think about the powerful combination of Fox and Trump,” he added. “It’s the biggest one-two punch the world has ever seen and I think we should start exploiting it for our personal benefit.”
