Thousands of dollars in lawn care equipment stolen from Christian school – Indianapolis News | Indiana Weather | Indiana Traffic

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Police are on the hunt for thousands of dollars of lawn care equipment stolen Friday morning from Trinity Christian School in the city’s southeast side.

Officer William Young, a spokesman for Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, said the school and the church are contributors to the community. “So, it’s hurtful to see someone take away from that particular structure, whether it be a business or house of worship. It’s certainly concerning.”

About $10,000 worth of lawn care equipment was stolen from the garage in the school’s parking lot. Metal fences, and signs denoting the private property surround the property.

The school declined to issue a statement but verified the most expensive item stolen was a 2016 Yamaha Wolverine utility task vehicle worth $7,500. Online listings show it may cost the school from $10,000 to $13,000 to replace the unit.

The school would most likely have to pay several hundred more dollars to replace the other stolen items, which include a Red Toro push mower, a Husqvarna weed wacker, a Husqvarna backpack leaf blower, a Craftsman Backpack sprayer, and a Ryobi pole saw.

Young said, “Officers will continue to patrol this area, as we do any area, and do their due diligence to hold these individual or individuals accountable for what they’ve done.”

Police urged anyone with information to reach out to IMPD’s southeast district.
