The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heavy rain in many areas of Uttarakhand on Friday, August 23. There is a possibility of very heavy rain, lightning with thunder and extremely heavy rain. An alert has also been issued for rain and thundershowers in some hilly districts.

In the next 24 hours, there is a possibility of thunder/lightning and very intense rain at different places in Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Nainital, Almora and Udham Singh Nagar.

Earlier on Thursday morning, heavy rain occurred in many districts, due to which waterlogging occurred in many areas. Due to rain, some drop in temperature has been recorded. On Thursday, the maximum temperature in Dehradun was 34.4 and minimum temperature was 21.2, while in Pantnagar the maximum temperature was 34.6 and minimum temperature was 26.2, in Mukteshwar the maximum temperature was 21.5 and maximum 14.7 while in New Tehri the maximum temperature was 26.1 and minimum temperature was 16.2.
