Tessa Heffelbower already has a high school career full of highlights.
And she’s got plenty of time to add some more.
The Hudsonville infielder has already helped her team win a Division 1 state title in 2024 and has helped propel the team to a No. 3 ranking in the state heading into the 2025 district tournament.
Heffelbower, who has committed to play for Michigan State, claimed the fan vote as the top junior softball player in the state with more than 6,000 votes to beat out Bri Borgman of Grand Haven and Adrianna Fogg of Leslie.
Heffelbower earned Division 1 First Team honors as a sophomore after hitting .477 with 44 RBIS, 24 stolen bases and four homers for a Hudsonville team that finished as the Division 1 state champion with a 42-0 record.
She played a key role in the championship run, with a double, triple and four RBIs in a 10-0 semifinal win over Farmington Hills Mercy.
Heffelbower followed with two more hits, an RBI and a run in Hudsonville’s 5-0 championship-game win over Lake Orion.
Hudsonville opens defense of its state title in a Tuesday pre-district game at home against Grandville.
