Levell, Moore Run Personal Bests at Hungarian meet

Jamaica’s national 200m champions Bryan Levell and Ashanti Moore continue to show superb form going into the World Championships in Japan next month, by logging personal best performances at the Istvan Gyulai Memorial meeting in Hungary on Tuesday.

Levell sped to a new meet record 19.69 seconds to win the 200m, making him the third fastest Jamaican ever over the distance behind Usain Bolt 19.19 set when Levell was just four years old and the 19.26 by Yohan Blake.

Levell’s previous lifetime best was 19.97 seconds.

Two other Jamaicans Adrian Kerr and Michael Campbell finished sixth and seventh in 20.52 and 20.88 seconds respectively.

Moore joined Brianna Lyston in 14th on the Jamaican all time list of female 200m runner when she sizzled to 22.31 seconds, shaving nine one hundredths of a second off her previous best of 22.40 seconds set last month.

Another national champion Kishane Thompson was the third Jamaican winner at the meet, he logged 9.95 seconds to win the men’s 100m.

Ackeem Blake was fourth in 10.04 while Kadrian Goldson and Rohan Watson bagged sixth and seventh in 10.08 and 10.12 seconds.

The women’s 100m went to Marie Jose Talou of the Ivory Coast in 10.97 seconds, she beat a slew of Jamaicans with Tina Clayton ending second in 10.99 seconds, Shericka Jackson third in 11 seconds flat and Shelly- Ann Fraser Pryce fourth in 11.07 seconds.

National record holder Ackera Nugent was beaten into fourth in the 100m hurdles in12.85 seconds as Nadine Visser of the Netherlands won in 12.43….Amoi Brown was fifth in 12.88 seconds

Ackelia Smith soared to 6.67 for second in the women’s Long Jump.

Rusheen McDonald finished fifth in the men’s 400m in 45.12 seconds, Sean Bailey was last in 48.38

Hansle Parchment’s 13.24 seconds was good enough for second in the 110m hurdles, Orlando Bennett was fifth in 13.32
