RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A deadly Raleigh car and motorcycle collision closed Yonkers Road at Interstate 440 late Saturday night, with the road closure expected into Sunday morning, Raleigh police and the NCDOT said.
The wreck was reported just after 11:10 p.m. along Yonkers Road near N. Raleigh Boulevard, beside I-440, according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation.
Crews initially closed the I-440 eastbound ramp for Yonkers Road, which is at mile marker 12, the NCDOT reported. However, minutes later, officials said Yonkers Road was closed in both directions near I-440.
An NCDOT image from the scene showed a mangled motorcycle and a Raleigh Fire Department engine with rescue crews nearby. Images from a CBS 17 photographer showed a wrecked sedan behind crime scene tape with the crashed motorcycle.

Raleigh police said one person died in the wreck, but did not release any other details.
Several people were standing near the crash scene with at least one ambulance still there at 11:30 p.m.

The NCDOT said Yonkers Road should be clear by 5:25 a.m. Sunday.
