Air Vanuatu has confirmed that one of its ATR aircraft has been grounded due to a technical issue with one of its engines.
The confirmation came from the CEO of Air Vanuatu, Mr. Joseph Laloyer, who told VBTC News that a global shortage of ATR engines is contributing to delays in sourcing a replacement.
Mr. Laloyer said the airline’s management is currently in negotiations with other regional carriers including Fiji Airways, Aircalin, Solomon Airlines, and even some airlines in Australia to assist in covering the ATR routes while the aircraft is being repaired.
Despite the grounding, the airline’s Twin Otter services are continuing to operate as normal.
