Twenty Former Cowboys to Take Part in Annual NFL Pro Day

LARAMIE — Caden Barnett said his post-Wyoming plan is a simple one.

“I’m going to play football as long as I can,” the 6-foot-5, 320-pound offensive lineman said back in November. “As soon as I’m done playing, I’m going to coach as long as I can. I just love football.”

Barnett, along with 18 of his Cowboy teammates, will work out in front of NFL scouts Wednesday in Laramie as part of the program’s annual Pro Day.

Doors to the indoor practice facility will open at 9:30 a.m. and the event is open to the public.

Evaluators from nearly all 32 franchises have paid numerous visits to Laramie since last spring, mainly keeping a close eye on Barnett, fellow interior lineman Jack Walsh and tight ends Evan Svoboda and John Michael Gyllenborg, according to a source within the UW football program.

The latter competed in last week’s NFL Combine in Indianapolis, earning a spot on the NFL’s All-Combine team after an impressive showing inside Lucas Oil Stadium.

Barnett was invited to the East-West Shrine Bowl and Svoboda and Walsh joined him at the Hula Bowl, two postseason showcases for prospects.

The testing will include: 225 bench press, vertical Jump, 40-yard dash, broad jump, 3-cone test, 20-yard shuttle, 60-yard shuttle and specific position drills.

Following the testing portion of the day, Cowboys may be requested for individual meetings with representatives from NFL teams in attendance. The NFL Draft will take place in Pittsburgh April 23-25.

The following players will take part in pro day:

Defensive Tackle – Ben Florentine – Anaheim, Calif.

Defensive end – Tyce Westland – Pleasanton, Neb.

Tight end – John Michael Gyllenborg – Leawood, Kan.

Offensive line – Caden Barnett – Justin, Texas

Offensive line – Jack Walsh – Palatine, Ill.

Safety – Jevon Davis – Casper, Wyo.

Linebacker – Evan Eller – Roanoke, Va.

Linebacker – Brayden Johnson – Ringling, Okla.

Tight end – Justin Erb – Wakefield, Neb.

Defensive end – Chisom Ifeanyi – Langhorne, Pa.

Cornerback – Dainsus Miller – Fairburn, Ga.

Wide receiver – Clay Nanke – Denver, Colo.

Wide receiver – Jaylan Sargent – Logan, Utah

Running back – Sam Scott – Omaha, Neb.

Safety – Isaac Sell – Laramie, Wyo.

Tight end – Evan Svoboda – Mesa, Ariz.

Defensive tackle – Aneesh Vyas – West Chester, Ohio

Running back – Max White – Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Long snapper – Carson York – McKinney, Texas

Pro Day Testing in the Indoor Practice Facility Will be Open to the Public
The Indoor Practice Facility will have a fenced area available for fans and family members of players to view the testing. That fenced area will be as you enter the main entrance on the west side of the Indoor Practice Facility. Fans and family members viewing the Pro Day will need to stay behind the fence.

This is an important day for the former Cowboy players being tested, and we want NFL personnel to be able to evaluate those former Cowboys with no distractions. Due to the importance of the day to the players being tested, fans are asked not to interrupt or attempt to speak with players or NFL representatives during the time the testing is being conducted.

Parking
Individuals attending may park in the Stadium Lot east of War Memorial Stadium and south of the Indoor Practice Facility without the need for a parking pass.

* In an earlier version of this story, it was stated that Cheyenne’s Andrew Johnson will be competing in Pro Day. The former safety will not be in attendance. He was hired by the 157th Fighter Squadron in South Carolina where he will become a fighter pilot for the U.S. Air Force. We regret this error.
