Sunshine and Storm Chances for Memorial Day Weekend

Temperatures will continue to rise as we head into Memorial Day weekend. Mostly sunny skies ahead, except for a chance of storms on Sunday afternoon and evening.

Here is the latest run of StormCast showing showers and storms continuing off to our east on Friday evening. North-central Nebraska could see a few storms on Saturday afternoon ahead of clear skies for the start of the day on Sunday.

A cooler evening for late May ahead in southeast Nebraska. Temperatures will range from the lower 40s to the lower 50s by Saturday morning.

Expect cloud cover to clear overnight in Lincoln, and winds should die down heading into early Saturday morning.

Highs return to the 70s on Saturday afternoon with a few passing clouds in the afternoon.

Should be a pleasant morning to get out to the Farmer’s Market in the Capital City. Temperatures start out in the upper 40s and lower 50s, and will reach the 70s during the afternoon.

Another chance for storms hits the forecast on Sunday afternoon and evening. Here is one look at a mid-range model for Sunday afternoon.

Marginal Risk (level 1 out of 5) of severe weather is in place from south-central to northeastern Nebraska on Sunday. Large hail and damaging winds are the main concerns at this point in time.

Temperatures stay on the warmer side following Memorial Day weekend. Our next chance for storms arrives in the middle of the week and looks to be wrapped up before next weekend.
