Three Stuttgart High School students are using technology and storytelling to connect their peers — and their community — to the region’s agricultural roots.
As part of the school’s EAST (Education Accelerated by Service and Technology) program, students Jackson Owens, Cale Worring, and Isaac Dover have developed a small publication focused on local farming and the people behind it. Their goal is to inspire younger generations to consider agricultural careers and preserve the region’s farming heritage.
“Our goal in our EAST class is for groups of students to create projects that help the people around us and attempt to solve community issues,” said student Cale Worring, who shared information about the project. “We are three students… working to inspire youth to pursue careers in agriculture to preserve it as part of our heritage. We made our small publication and thought there would be no better way to do so than by adding an interview with a local farmer.”
EAST facilitator Tyler Spencer said the project aligns with the EAST Initiative’s statewide mission of empowering students to use advanced technology to solve problems and build community partnerships.
“This project connects students with local farmers to tell their stories — showcasing their hard work, innovations, and contributions to Stuttgart and the surrounding area,” Spencer said. “It promotes agricultural awareness and encourages future involvement in the field.”
Through the effort, the students are gaining hands-on experience in media production, communication, and community engagement while creating a real-world impact.
As part of their project, the students interviewed local farmer Brooks Davis, who shared insights about his operation and the role agriculture continues to play in the Stuttgart area.
