Rulings by two judges on Friday halted the Trump administration’s plan to freeze food aid during the federal government shutdown. The potential suspension of the $8 billion Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, dominates this week’s editorial cartoon gallery, overlaid with a Halloween theme.

Construction of a ballroom where the White House East Wing once stood remains a hot topic. Sheneman’s White House trick-or-treater gets a chunk of demolition debris in his bag. Summers reminds us that Harry Truman also “gutted the White House.” Steve Breen sees Trump’s divisive presidency as a “brawlroom.”
