The Concord boys’ soccer team remained in the hunt for its first win of the season after a tough game against Bedford, which ended in a 4-0 loss.
Coming off a close game last Thursday against Exeter, which they lost 3-1, the Tide was trying mightily to right the ship.
In the game against Exeter, Head Coach Scott Dunlop said the boys truly left it all out on the field for the full 80 minutes. They thought they had found their form and were encouraged, but against Bedford, the change didn’t materialize.
“We just haven’t been consistent enough,” Dunlop said.

Against the Bulldogs on Tuesday, the first half showed promise, and the team only trailed by one goal at the break. In the second half, however, the frustration started to mount as the Tide struggled to find an equalizer.
A second Bedford goal only made matters worse. The Tide, which is 0-6 on the season, fought for a goal, but could not seem to connect on long strings of passes and relied on wingers to try and find a way in the box.
While the team threw itself forward, it left gaps in the backline, which led to two more Bedford goals before the end. The Bulldogs improved their record to 4-0-1.
Dunlop and assistant coach Pascal Zabayo were visibly frustrated by the results on the field. Zabayo, who worked with many of the players over the summer, said the team has to work more cohesively to win.

Dunlop has coached the team for 31 seasons.
“We try to talk about, ‘respect them, not fear them,’ and I think we respected them for part of the game, and then we started to fear them,” he said.
