Alcohol a possible factor in Cass County crash, police say

MASON TWP, MI – Alcohol may have been a factor in a Cass County crash that injured one person, according to police.

Deputies from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office were called around 8:51 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31 to a two-vehicle crash on Old M-205 and Redfield Street in Mason Township, police said.

A 35-year-old Burr Oak man was driving east on Redfield Street at M-205 when he failed to yield to oncoming traffic, police said. Another car going south, driven by a 21-year-old from Indiana, struck the 35-year-old’s car.

The passenger in the eastbound car, a 20-year-old Indiana woman, was taken to the hospital with injuries, police said.

Police believe alcohol was a factor in the crash, which is still under investigation.

Cass County Sheriff’s Office deputies were assisted by Edwardsburg Police Department, as well as the Southeast Public Safety Authority ambulance and fire department.
