ROP announces truck movement restrictions for Ramadan

Muscat – Royal Oman Police (ROP) has issued a formal directive regarding truck movement across the Sultanate to mitigate traffic congestion during the holy month of Ramadan. This measure is designed to ensure a smoother flow of traffic during peak hours as commuting patterns shift throughout the month.

According to the official announcement, the prohibition for heavy vehicles will be enforced from Sunday to Thursday in two distinct phases. The morning restriction will be in effect from 7:00 am until 9:30 am, followed by an afternoon restriction between 12:00 pm and 4:00 pm. On Saturdays, a separate restriction will be implemented from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm.

These regulations specifically target major transport arteries, including Sultan Qaboos Road, spanning from the Qurum Intersection in Muscat to the Khatmat Milaha Border Post in North Batinah. Restrictions also apply to Sultan Thuwayni bin Said Road between Burj Al Sahwa Roundabout and Bidbid Bridge, alongside all main roads within the Muscat Governorate.
