The head of the Housing Authority has urged for a more “diversified housing supply” that addresses people’s present and future aspirations.
Speaking at the bi-annual Build Europe congress in Malta, Housing Authority CEO Matthew Zerafa underlined the need for modern and adaptable housing strategies.
“Europe must build differently – not just more,” he said. “We need a diversified housing supply that reflects how people live today and how they aspire to live tomorrow.”
This was the second time Malta hosted the congress which brought together over 34 representatives from developer federations across 20 European countries. The three-day event was hosted by the Malta Development Association.
MDA CEO Leon Chetcuti said the congress was a “valuable opportunity for us to learn from one another and work together on practical solutions to improve housing availability and quality across Europe.”
The congress included round table discussions on key industry topics such as affordable housing, planning efficiency, taxation, and sustainable development. Delegates toured several major projects in Malta including Mercury Tower, ORA Residences, and the Verdala project.
