Man caught for offering illegal taxi service to foreigners at KLIA | Malaysia

A MAN has been arrested and his vehicle seized after he was caught offering illegal taxi services to foreign passengers at Terminal 1 of Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) last Friday.

The Selangor Road Transport Department (JPJ) said in a statement that the arrest followed “intensive surveillance and monitoring” by enforcement officers.

The operation led to the detention of the driver and the confiscation of the car used in the illegal activity.

“Initial investigations found that the tout had approached and persuaded three Bangladeshi passengers at KLIA Terminal 1 to use his transport service to Agile Residence, Bukit Bintang, for a fare of RM80 to be paid upon arrival,” JPJ said.

The offence is being investigated under Section 205(1) of the Land Public Transport Act 2010 (APAD 2010), which carries a maximum fine of RM50,000, a jail term of up to five years, or both.

“Individuals found to be aiding or abetting such touting activities may also be charged under Section 243(1) of the same Act,” the statement added.

JPJ has urged the public to use only authorised transport services through official counters at KLIA Terminals 1 and 2, or via registered e-hailing platforms.

“Any complaints can be submitted via [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) or through the e-aduan@JPJ mobile application,” the department said. – November 2, 2025
