Autumn and winter chalets in Kirchberg: gastronomy, crafts and entertainment

Seven chalets have opened in Kirchberg, offering food, drinks, gifts and activities as the winter season begins.

The chalets were unveiled on the Rue Edward Steichen on Thursday, with the site converted into a mini-market which is set to operate until the end of January.

The mini-market is operated by Ugo&Co, the company that launched a street market on the same site in November last year. This year, the set-up will be a little different.

A wide range of culinary specialities

One of the cornerstones of this little market, which comprises a main chalet surrounded by six smaller ones, is the food. In the main chalet, a wide selection of hearty dishes will be on offer to satisfy appetites both big and small, with a range of products including entrecôte, raclette, sausage and tarte flambée, to name but a few.

A number of desserts are also on the menu, including pavlova, tiramisu, crème brûlée, chocolate mousse, tarte Tatin and chocolate moelleux.

The majority of snacks and food offerings are to be found in the six smaller chalets, which also sell specialities including gromperekichelcher, Boxemännchen and pretzel, through a partnership between Chez Ugo, Brasserie Beaulieu and the Restaurant Joslet.

People will also be able a number of products in the chalets for gifts, including honey made in Kirchberg, and a variety of handmade creations.

Entertainment and practical information

Visitors will also be able to enjoy activities on the same specially designated “buses” as last year – the “photo” bus, “Instagram” bus, “beer” bus and “cocktail” bus – as well as avail of two pétanque courts and wooden games. There are also special visits planned from Saint Nicholas and Father Christmas during the festive season.

The smaller chalets will be open from Tuesday to Saturday from 12:00 to 22:00 and on Sunday from 12:00 to 17:00. The large chalet will be open from Wednesday to Friday from 12:00 to 14:00 and from 18:00 to 22:00, and on Saturday from 18:00 to 22:00.
