Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, on the occasion of Thiruvalluvar Day on Friday (January 16, 2026), made four promises to the people of Tamil Nadu. In a social media post, Mr. Stalin emphasised that courage against social injustices and communal forces; humanitarian programmes for the uplift of the poor and the downtrodden; initiatives to nurture youngsters’ knowledge; and steps towards industrial development and women empowerment would continue in the State.

“On this Thiruvalluvar Day, I assure you that these four will continue in Tamil Nadu,” he said.

On Thursday (January 15), Mr. Stalin celebrated Pongal at the Shelter for Urban Homeless and Wellness Centre on Third Beach Lane. He handed over Pongal gift hampers to the inmates and assured them that he would take measures to allot houses to them. Minister P.K. Sekarbabu accompanied the Chief Minister.

Mr. Stalin also visited the memorials of former Chief Ministers C.N. Annadurai and M. Karunanidhi on Thursday and paid floral tributes.

Further, the Chief Minister interacted with persons experiencing homelessness on Narayanappa Street off Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Salai, who have been allotted houses constructed by the Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board. They thanked him for the allotment, an official release said. He also named a baby during his visit there.
