Union minister of state for home Bandi Sanjay’s son, Sai Bageerath, who was asked to appear before investigators in a Pocso case for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor, did not turn up before the Cyberabad police on Wednesday. HYDERABAD: Union minister of state for home Bandi Sanjay’s son, Sai Bageerath, who was asked to appear before investigators in a Pocso case for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor, did not turn up before the Cyberabad police on Wednesday. Following his non-appearance, investigators have indicated that his arrest is now imminent.According to police, Bageerath was issued a notice to appear before investigators at 2 pm on Wednesday, but he failed to comply. Multiple teams have been deployed to trace him across Karimnagar, Hyderabad and Delhi, a police officer said. In a related development, a letter purportedly written by Bageerath seeking two more days to appear before police circulated on social media. Cyberabad police later confirmed that they received the letter via email but said it is not being considered. Police said they are verifying the authenticity of the email and the source from which it was sent.Police said they had responded to the same email, reiterating that Bageerath is wanted in a sexual abuse case and must appear before investigators without delay. On Wednesday, investigators took the survivor for medical examination. Police stated that, according to her complaint, she was allegedly assaulted on two occasions.Meanwhile, posters featuring photographs of Bandi Sanjay and his son, with messages stating that the accused is “missing,” appeared at several public locations, including Secunderabad railway station on Wednesday. In a separate development, police are also examining discrepancies in the survivor’s birth records.

GHMC & Nirmal civic body issued 2 separate birth certs

Authorities said two different birth certificates have been issued by separate civic bodies—the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and Nirmal municipality—with differing years of birth (2008 and 2010). Investigators noted that both documents still indicate she is a minor, which is central to the case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.Police added that the GHMC birth certificate was submitted by the complainant’s family as proof of age, and further verification is underway to determine which record is authentic and establish the survivor’s exact age.
