GHTA stands in solidarity with Jamaica in the wake of Hurricane Melissa

The Grenada Hotel & Tourism Association (GHTA) pledges its heartfelt support and solidarity with the people of Jamaica and with our sister organisation, the Jamaica Hotel & Tourist Association (JHTA), following the devastating impact of Hurricane Melissa.

The GHTA recognises the immense challenges faced by Jamaica’s tourism sector, communities, and families in the aftermath of the storm and extends sincere sympathy to all those affected. “As our Caribbean brothers and sisters face the devastation brought by Hurricane Melissa, the GHTA stands shoulder to shoulder with the JHTA and the people of Jamaica,” said Arlene Friday, CEO of the GHTA. “We understand the strength and resilience that define our region, and we will do our part to assist wherever possible.”

The GHTA will remain in close communication with both the JHTA and the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) to determine specific ways to contribute to relief and recovery efforts. This coordinated approach ensures that the support provided directly addresses the most urgent needs as identified by Jamaica’s tourism stakeholders.

“In times like these, we are reminded that we are One Caribbean,” Ms Friday added. “Our unity and compassion are what make us Caribbean Strong — and together, we will help Jamaica rebuild and recover.”

The GHTA encourages members, partners, and the wider Grenadian community to join in offering assistance and solidarity to Jamaica during this difficult time.  Please stay tuned for additional details on ways to contribute.
