November marks the start of the peak season for cruise ships in Puerto Plata, where 49 cruise ships will arrive at the ports of Amber Cove and Taíno Bay.
This represents 39 more visits than in October, when the two ports received 23 ships.
The number of cruise ships represents a significant boost to this province’s economy, directly impacting thousands of families who depend on this tourist activity.
In the January-September period of this year, 1,621,775 cruise passengers arrived, accounting for 81.4 percent of the total number of visitors who arrived at other national terminals by this route.
Last year, Puerto Plata received 2,186,000 cruise passengers, accounting for 80 percent of the visitors who arrived in the country by sea.
