An alarm was sounded yesterday at the Fire Service following a fire in an apartment in Nicosia.
According to the Fire Service Spokesperson, Andreas Kettis, at 6:13 p.m., the Nicosia fire stations responded with four fire trucks, including a telescopic boom vehicle.
The cause was a fire in a wooden piece of furniture in the hallway of an apartment on the 5th floor of an apartment building in Nicosia.
A wooden side table was destroyed by the fire, and the apartment’s paint also suffered damage. The resident was not in danger, and there was no need to evacuate the floor. The causes of the fire were investigated, and it appears the fire was caused by a lit candle on a wooden table.
The Fire Service responded to 37 incidents in the last 24 hours: 20 fires and 17 special services.
